A customer sent these through after a few days chasing plains game in the Karoo, and they say more about the Xamorest Carbon Fibre Tripod than any spec sheet we could write. Same tripod, same rifle, four completely different setups. That is really the whole point of the thing.
The ground is never on your side
The Karoo doesn't give you a comfortable, flat bench to shoot off. One minute you're on a rocky koppie with nothing level for a hundred metres, the next you're lying on a slab of shale, or standing in knee-high grass watching a ridge line. Shooting sticks are fine until the terrain stops cooperating, and out here it seldom does. On loose rock and uneven footing they shift and lean, and the moment a Karoo wind comes across the plains that little wobble is the difference between a clean shot and a wounded animal. You need something that plants itself and stays put.
Four positions, one piece of kit
On the first morning he set it up at full height on the edge of a rise, rifle clamped in, glassing the plains as the sun came over the ridge. Standing height means you read the country before you commit, with no wrestling into prone behind a bush that blocks half your view.
Later, out on a stone ledge, he dropped the legs right down and splayed them flat, turning the same tripod into a low, rock steady rest a few centimetres off the deck. Prone stability without lying in the rocks.
Down at the dam it came into its own again, legs set wide and low on the bank, quiet to deploy and low against the skyline while he waited out the water. And out in the grassland, where soft footing swallows most rests, the wide carbon legs stayed planted and level for a clean standing shot.
